How to remove the site redirection exploitation in Brave browser?

Brave version I’m using is 1.26.67 Chromium: 91.0.4472.114.

Cleaning the cache and cookies does not remove the site redirection exploitation code once it’s installed.

You need to wipe out all files in Brave folder. In Devuan Linux, the fold is ~/.config/BraveSoftware.

Before run ‘rm -rf ~/.config/BraveSoftware’, you should backup Bookmarks and passwords. Here backup means export.

To export Bookmarks, navigate the menus in the following order and give a file name.

Bookmarks > Bookmark manager > Organize > Export bookmarks

To export passwords, navigate the menus in the following order and give a file name.

Settings > Additional settings > Privacy and security> Autofill > Passwords > Save Passwords > More actions > Export passwords

Exit Brave browser.

Run ‘rm -rf ~/.config/BraveSoftware’ in a console.

Start Brave browser.

Go to Bookmarks menu and choose ‘Import bookmarks and settings …’, then choose the bookmark file you created previously.

Go to ‘Save Passwords > More actions’ and choose Import passwords, then choose the password file you created previously.
