Cinelerra is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License,

certain conditions. There is absolutely no warranty for Cinelerra.

When I started it, it produces the following error message in a pop-up window.

WARNING:/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax is 0x2000000, which is too low

I increased shared memory to 2GB by following the instruction.

$ sudo vim /etc/sysctl.conf

Then, add the following lines in end of the file.

# Cinelerra CV
# The following errors occurred:
# void MWindow::init_shm0: WARNING:/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax is 0x2000000, which is too
low.
# Before running Cinelerra do the following as root:
# echo "0x7ffffff">/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
# kernel/shmmax=0x7fffffff
# increase shared memory to 2GB

kernel.shmmax = 2147483647

Let the kernel increase shared memory
$ sudo sysctl -p
kernel.shmmax = 2147483647
