Find the device for GoPro HERO2.

$ sudo fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sdg: 15.9 GB, 15931539456 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 1936 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdg1 1 1937 15554048 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)

Mount it to a directory. I made /media/sandisk directory as super user.

$ sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdg1 /media/sandisk
or
$ sudo mount /dev/sdg1 /media/sandisk

Then copy or delete image or mp4 files using shell commands.

penguin@theblue:/media/sandisk$ ls -la
total 100
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 32768 Jan 1 1970 .
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Aug 1 17:41 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 32768 Mar 9 2011 DCIM
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 32768 Mar 9 2011 MISC

Checked the firmware version

penguin@theblue:/media/sandisk/MISC$ more version.txt
{
"info version":"1.0",
"firmware version":"HD2.08.12.70",
"camera type":"HD2",
}

I followed the firmware update procedure in this video:

After firmware update

penguin@theblue:/media/sandisk/MISC$ more version.txt
{
"info version":"1.0",
"firmware version":"HD2.08.12.124.WIFI.R33.00",
"camera type":"HD2",
}
